The relationship between planning an extensive area belonging to the commune and integrated planning as well as urban planning is an experience being lived out in the area around Mount Vesuvius and is having interesting repercussions on disciplinary innovation and on the content of the planning instruments used. In the article are described the main interesting themes of this experience.
